Hot
Water Tanks
July 1, 2003; the day we had to change the way
we thought about water heaters. As of that date
the American National Standards Institute established a new safety
standard. The new safety
standard mandates that gas-fired residential water heaters must
not ignite flammable vapor
outside the water heater. When volatile liquids are spilled near
a gas-burning appliance, the
vapors can ignite, causing fires.
In the Ruud and Rheem hot water tanks that Bay Furnace
offers, should a spill incident occur,
their new design shuts off the gas and air supply preventing a sustained
vapor burn
in the combustion chamber. This is a one of a kind, air and fuel
shut-off device, which provides
extra reliability and ultimate protection.
