Are you insured?

Yes, we are licensed and bonded for all the Westside suburbs of Cleveland and have liability insurance for work pertaining to heating/cooling.



What kind of guarantee do you have?

We have a 30 day labor warranty on any repair and a minimum one year parts and labor on new equipment.



What brands of equipment do you service?

Bay Furnace services all makes and models of heating and cooling equipment.



What brands of equipment do you sell?

We are a Carrier dealer and we install Carrier products.



When are you open?

Our hours are Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Saturday and evening appointments as needed.


How far should I set back my thermostat?

No more than 3 - 5 degrees (it takes too long for houses to recover heating or cooling).



How often do you recommend we have our furnace or air conditioner tuned up?

Bay Furnace recommends you use our 20 point tune up for heating and cooling after the second year, then yearly.



What should I do if I see water on the floor near the furnace or hot water tank?

Call for Bay Furnace service (440) 871-3777.



Why should I have a Maintenance Agreement?

You are a preferred customer and will receive 10% off future service invoices, plus a free carbon monoxide test. We will call you early and set up a time for the seasonal maintenance.



How often should I change my filters?

Furnace fiberglass filters should be replaced four times a year. If you have a Space Guard or Carrier EZ-Flex filter, it should be replaced once a year. For Electronic Air Cleaners, they should be cleaned every two months.



My hot water tank is rumbling, what should I do?

This is caused by sediment at the bottom of the tank. At this point we cannot do anything. To correct the problem, you might want to start planning for a new hot water tank.



What should I do if I do not have hot water?

You will need to call Bay Furnace for a service call. The problem is usually the dip tube or the gas valve. If the tank is out if warranty, it would be best to buy a new hot water tank.



Why are hot water tanks more expensive now?

Federal regulation safety has changed the design of hot water tanks. The bottoms are sealed so the flames can not have rollout.



Why should I sleeve my chimney?

Warm, moist air can hit the cold chimney wall causing water droplets to form on the inside of your chimney. Condensation was not a problem with your older, less-efficient furnace because more of the heat produced escaped up the chimney. In higher-efficiency furnaces, exhaust gases in your chimney react chemically with the excess moisture to form corrosive acids. Moisture can seep into cracks in the bricks and mortar. The moisture freezes and thaws, and could cause chunks of tile and chimney to break loose. This debris could actually block the ventilation system, causing a potentially harmful situation. Water could even drip back into your furnace, causing it to corrode. A properly vented furnace can eliminate these risks.



What can I do if my upstairs is too hot in the summer?

You could probably use an attic fan. With an attic fan, your electric bills will be reduced and air conditioning will operate less frequently. They will also remove moisture laden air from the attic in winter, eliminating moisture buildup and subsequent damage to the roof sheeting and insulation. An attic fan will remove super heated air from the attic in summer and extend the roof life.
If you already have an attic fan, check the duct vents (registers) and make sure they are all open on the second level. You might want to close some on the first level to move air upstairs. You could also put your furnace fan on continuously instead of on auto. This will distribute the air in your house more evenly. If you close your doors on the upper levels it will keep more cool air in the bedrooms.
